I had to dnf this book. First I tried to read it physically but I couldn’t be bothered as if did not particularly like the writing. So I listened to the story on an audiobook to try and get through it. I only got halfway before I had to stop. I really did like the concept of this thriller as i have never read a story like this before. The whole idea of having to keep prisoners captive in your own home is actually quite a chilling idea. However, I had major problems with Jem he was very secretive and I thought that to be unnecessary. Also I hated it when the main character had sex and then a resulting baby with Jem and I viewed it as a big betrayal. Why would you sleep with the man who has been convicted of killing your husband who you adored it just makes absolutely no sense and I think it’s stupid. I’m sorry if you enjoyed this novel but it’s just not for me.
