Jem has been convicted to 20 years imprisonment for the crime. In this dystopian future Hannah has to be the host to the prisoner, and have a cell put up in her home. The captive, Jem, has to spend 20 years imprisonment in a cell in her home! Hannah is required to house Jem, to feed him and to clean his clothes. The captive is supposed to learn what the impact of his actions are on the victim. Hannah doesn't want the murderer in her home, after all who is being punished here? But Jem assures Hannah that he is innocent and that he didn't murder her husband. Is Jem telling the truth? Can Hannah truly trust Jem?

I absolutely love the original premise of this story. Where did the author get her unique idea from? The story is so well written and perfectly paced that I was gripped throughout - I just kept turning those pages! There are plenty of twists and secrets to keep the reader entertained. The narrative switches between Hannah (the Host) and Jem (the Captive) which I found really interesting. I enjoyed seeing things from both perspectives. The author has written some interesting characters into this story and I assure you, you will not be bored reading this one!

I highly recommend this thought provoking book to all readers. What an amazing start to the new releases in 2021. This entertaining psychological thriller will have you on the edge of your seat!
