A thought provoking read which is particularly relevant in the current climate and “Black Lives Matter”.

The book is split into two narratives. Primarily the story is about Tumi, an Albino boy from Zimbabwe with a talent for swimming and is set in recent times and the second is narrated by his grand-mother and tells of the time she worked for a white family during the Zimbabwe uprising. Whilst the two stories work well and help bring context, I did find it lost its fluidity at times.

Some parts of the book are upsetting to read and many thought provoking. An interesting, if at times difficult, read.

It would make an excellent choice for a book club as there are many issues to discuss.
