The Colours that Blind tells the very important story of fourteen year old Tumi who is albino, he is the only albino to attend his school. This novel as well as telling Tumi's story also reveals the story of his Grandmother's life. I love books that delve into two people's lives and intertwine their experiences.
There is a lot of trauma discussed within this novel, there is pain, struggling and sadness during the history of Zimbabwe as well as during the present day due to discrimination.
There's a very helpful glossary at the end of the book to help with any words that aren't familiar. The Colours that Blind is a very educational novel that could easily be used for a YA book club or in a school.
