This book was very different to the books I usually read, however I really enjoyed it. The book is narrated by both Tumi and his grandmother which enables me as a reader to understand and visualise both of their lives and see how they compare. Both have many scars from their past which they have to fight to overcome, both mentally and physically. It's heart-breaking and heart-warming when Tumi begins to learn more about the life is grandmother has lived. The glossary is really useful at the back of the book, as it lets the read understand some of the vocabulary in the book that is not in English. I loved learning some new words in a new language. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys YA novels.
