I really liked the sound of this book and thought it was very fitting for the time. However, I was confused and lost in places. It has potentially to be a great read but it didn’t feel like that for me.
This book is a YA novel set in Zimbabwe with the history creating a strong setting for this. The protagonist, 14 year old Tumi is a very different character - one I’ve never come across before. He is an albino who loves swimming.
The dual narratives are cleverly written and showcase the racial tensions of history. It gives young people (and adults really) a great book that explores these difficulties head on.
