This book sat in my to-read pile for a while, I'm not sure why it took me so long to give it a shot but sometimes I have to be in the right frame of mind to read and fully appreciate thought-provoking books such as this.

The subject of this book is particularly relevant during the ongoing Black Lives Matter movement.

The book is written as two separate stories.

The main protagonist is a boy called Tumi, who suffers from Albinism. His story was particularly eye-opening for me, as I was unaware of the prejudice (in parts of Africa) this condition receives.

The second story is narrated by his grand-mother who tells of the time she worked for a white family during the Zimbabwe uprising.

While the two stories are connected, I struggled at times with the general flow of the story, as they jumped back and forward.

An interesting, thought-provoking and difficult read.
