A slow grower
I was a little disappointed with this book to begin with. It was slow going in at the start and I’m not a massive fan of the layout. The inclusion of blog entries made it all feel a little childish. However, I’m really glad that I stuck it out as by the end I felt a strong connection with Ailsa and wanted to see how she developed and grew as a person.
I would have liked there to have been more of the heart transplant stage as it felt rushed and we didn’t get any time to create a connection with Lennox so therefore could not share in Ailsa’s grief later on in the book.
The story of this book is very simple and I mean this in a good way. It is so nice to have the time and detail to watch Ailsa develop from a child into an adult.
