I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. When it arrived and I began to read it I thought it would be a typical girl meets boy with a happy ending, but while it has all those elements it has a lot more too. It is well a written story of a young woman, Ailsa Rae, experiencing a rebirth after having a heart transplant. Ailsa tells of her fears and expectations without sentiment, but in a down to earth way that makes her real. An enjoyable read, it left me wanting to know more about how Ailsa lives her new life. An unusual subject that needs more openness, I have carried a donor card since 1981 and have signed the national donor list, although I wonder if my organs will be a bit too old now. To me it's a no brainer, why waste good organs if they can help someone else.
