First off, I am inclined to say that the St. Augustine's quote about death is suitable for this piece of writing. Let's just say this book is no My Little Pony. My title suggests that this book is eerie and that's the only word I could muster up. There is a considerable amount of suspense in the first few pages of the book. "It had all come roaring back that night, all the alarms ringing together, like white water, filling his ears, choking, drowning him in the memories, suffocating him." He uses figurative language to describe the events that make up his conflict. By reading these first few pages it gives us perspective of what is to come. The author gives Alfie a interesting conflict and we the readers are on the edge of our seats waiting for the author to reveal the scripted unhinged truth. The author keeps saying "the truth" but is taking too long to unveil it. Though it is true, the suspense has kept me reading, at a point suspense becomes aggravation and aggravation becomes boredom. Detail is good, but I need some more action.
