The story grips you immediately from the start and makes you immediately sink into the story which sets up a multitude of questions in the reader's mind from the start. Who is Alfie? What is in the letter? Why has he bitten his names into such an awful state? What or who is he so terrified of? These interwoven but unexplained details come in rapid fire before a whole paragraph just reading 'Safe' follows, before the chilling next paragraph 'For now'.

We slowly learn more and more about Alfie, and the author's attention to minute detail and imagery makes for an intensive read where we can visualise the characters, the settings and their journey. This seems like an exciting book, marked out as a thriller from the onset, and I'd love to find out about the two female protagonists' journey to solve the murder and how they go about doing this. A great winter read.
