The Dark Room by Sam Blake was sent as a complimentary copy for me to review by Readers First, thank you!

This book is a genre I really enjoy reading, and did enjoy reading this book. The first few chapters are quite separate and distinct. As the story progresses, and we become better acquainted with Rachel and Caroline, we understand the link between the two characters. Caroline, as a crime reporter, based in New York, has skills to assist Rachel in solving the mystery surrounding Alfie's death and the people associated with Hare's Landing. Even if Caroline was not included in the storyline, Rachel would have managed capably on her own. It almost seems if Caroline is superfluous to the storyline.

The first third of the book was quite slow, but as I became more engrossed in the story, it became a page turner. The chapters are quite short, which is great, although I did keep saying to myself, one more chapter! Which ended up being the rest of the book.

I am keen to read more of Sam Blake now.
