One thing I did enjoy about this book was the shortness of the chapters and the alternating point of views between the two protagonists Rachel and Caroline. I found both leads to be likeable characters and enjoyed learning about their background and seeing the plot develop. All in all I found the book to be interesting and was gripped by the mystery. (SPOILERS AHEAD) However as the story went on I found it to be quite predicatable. As the story was set in a small town it was obvious when reading the story that all the characters we had been presented with would be linked to the death of Alfie and the that all characters would be connected to Hare’s landing. The end of the novel was very fast paced and felt rushed compared to the beginning of the novel which I found to be quite a slow build up. All the information about the characters were compressed into the last few chapters and I feel like more could have been said about why they decided to cover up Meg’s murder to begin with. I would definetey read another book by this author again as the plot was very original and I found the characters to be very likely and enjoyed watching the story unravel!
