A dark and creepy cover, a compelling main title and a very striking blub make for very high expectations for this book. It was a decent read but with so many stories of this genre it does not stand out. It was quite a slow start and really takes around a quarter of the way before the pace improves and you can really get into the story and characters.
However, saying this, for the most part the book is a good read. A good plot excuted with good characters and well thought out twists and turns. Character development was very good and was interesting to see how relationships changed throughout and later in the story. The setting and descriptive writing is also very captivating and appropriate for the plot and for the overall genre in general.
The real big highlight for me is the ending, it really tied everything together and was very satisfying.
