The book follows the story of two women who are randomly put together in a hotel in a remote part of Ireland. Caroline, a news reporter from New York who goes to stay at the hares landing hotel for a 2 week holiday to get away from the stresses of work. And Rachel, a TV scout whose home has been burgled and needs to get away until they get to the bottom of the burglary.
Rachel chose hares landing as it may hold answers to the sudden death of a homeless man her boyfriend had been interviewing for a documentary in the homeless. As the only guests at the hotel they soon start talking, and as Caroline helps Rachel look for answers on the homeless man it seems hares landing has a lot more skeletons in its closet. What really happened to the previous owner, did she really commit suicide or was it something more sinister? And what really happened when two local teenagers went missing 30 years ago. As they delve further in to the past will they find the answers they need ? And in any of it related to the homeless man from London?. This book is extremely well written and has so many twists and turns that you honestly have no idea where you'll end up. It get me gripped right until the very last page and constantly had me wondering what would happen next. This is one of the best thrillers I've read this year and I will now be reading all of Sam's other books. I cannot recommend this book enough, you certainly won't be disappointed.
