I was excited to read this, as I do love a good crime thriller, but I found this book to fall very flat. All except for the ending felt like fluff or filler detail.
What I did enjoy was having female protagonists that were strong willed and working together to solve a long standing murder mystery in Cork. Through a series of what was thought to be a coincidental stream of occurrences actually turns out to be a deadly revelation in the making.
I felt myself waiting for the novel to delve into its darker potential, but it continued to fall flat, except for the last 100 pages or so. It took too long to get to where the novel needed to be, it didn’t redeem itself in the end. I feel as though I can’t recommend this novel, as it didn’t grip me until the very last moments, but it was already too late.
I wish I could say that the ride was worth it, but the ending was hardly worth the ride.
