When Rachel's London houseboat is broken into the same day that her partner is hit by a car while cycling, she begins to wonder if there is a conspiracy afoot. Following a lead and leaving for her own safety, Rachel makes her way to a country bed and breakfast in West Cork with her dog Jasper.

Caroline is in desperate need of a getaway - her job as a New York crime reporter has gone sour with an unjust lawsuit which her boss won't support her in. She seeks solace in the remote holiday village of her childhood back home in Ireland.

What connects a homeless London violinist, a country manor in West Cork, a love letter written by a rich woman who committed suicide and a couple of teenagers who went missing over 25 years ago? The puzzle pieces come together with alarming speed as Caroline and Rachel team up to solve the mystery of Hare's Landing.

I enjoyed the setup of this book a lot, and the setting of the newly refurbished bed and breakfast, Hare's Landing, was very special. I loved the realistic gothic vibes that go with so many historical sites, especially manor houses. I would love to stay somewhere like Hare's Landing.

The plot came together very well for the first half of the book, and I enjoyed that it kept me guessing, as new elements were added to the mystery.
I wasn't really sure about the way that Caroline and Rachel seemed to kind of take point when the police got involved, and I'm not sure how that would fly even in a rural village. They were literally random hotel guests that had been there for less than a week, why would they be the police's go to people onsite, even if they were willing? Just a little strange, in my opinion.

I like the general outcome of the plotline, and thought it was a fun story. The end was a little bit jittery, and I think it could have used a fair amount of reworking, but overall it got us there in the end.

I would recommend this book to fans of Megan Miranda and Michele Campbell. 3.5 stars.
