I enjoyed the plot of the novel. As you can tell from the description above, the mystery was very intriguing and I liked the way the two different storylines merged together to create lots of twists and complexity in the mystery. I also enjoyed hearing from both women’s point of view as they were likeable and relatable characters. However, I did feel the plot was a bit slow at times as it took a while for the two women to meet, and the mystery progressed somewhat slowly. I feel like more of a mysterious, tense mood could have been created as the ‘dramatic’ events in the novel could have been made scarier and there could have been closer calls for the two women.The story is told from the perspectives of Rachel, who has come to Hare’s landing for safety after her partner, Hunter, and their house boat are attacked, and Caroline, a journalist who comes for peace and quiet while a lawsuit is settled. Overall, I felt this was a really well written book that I would recommend to any mystery fan!
