Unfortunately, I found "The Dark Room" to be the least impressive mystery and crime thriller that I have read in a very long time. The two female leads are not very different and it can be extremely difficult to understand their differences, as a result of poor characterization. Additionally, there are far too many characters in this story, which makes the novel very difficult to follow. I found many plot lines and clues to be irrelevant to the plot, but I felt that many characters and plot points were not necessary to the novel. If the characters were developed more fully, the novel would be a more impressive and interesting read. Additionally, I felt the novel to be very long and drawn out, but I was not impressed with the final product. Also, I personally am not sure that I would enjoy any novels written by the author in the future. I did not enjoy the story.
