I adore a good thriller, love the rush they give me as I’m helping the characters hunt down the answers. This book gave me everything I like in a thriller and more. It was deceptive, allowing you to get yourself cosy and believe you had it all figured out. But you didn’t, you very rarely do.

The story follows two main characters; Catherine and Rachel. Rachel, a Londoner who comes to Hare’s Landing in search for clues and to escape possible threat. Especially after the police believe her partner’s accident wasn’t just a random hit and run. Catherine is a New York crime journalist, looking to escape the stress her life has become who comes to Hare’s landing only to discover mysteries she feels drawn to solve.

As the two women meet during the destinations quiet period, they soon discover that the ghosts they are searching for may actually uncover some darker secrets.

I loved this book. The slow build up, the anticipation for what was foreshadowed. I enjoyed the characters, their personalities and strengths clear from the start. But most of all I enjoyed the scavenger hunt of clues the author set through the book. You build your theories and still don’t know what’s true.

I have to say that the book was cleverly written, it peaked my interest very early into the game and for a thriller that is crucial. You only have a few chapters to hook or lose a reader in this genre, and this book dug the hook into such a tender spot that you had no choice but to continue. As for the writing, I found the writing style easy to digest, fast paced and addictive. It was hard to put the book down once I started it. It is definitely an author I will be seeking more out of. My suggestion is why don’t you give the book a go too.
