I'm not too sure about the lobster shaped splodge on the cover of this book.
This book is set in New York in 1799 when there was mass immigration from lots of other countries and the consequent tensions and rivalries. I read a lot of historical fiction but found the writing seemed rather stilted - not easy reading.
