I really enjoyed the style of writing from the outset. The story begins in the 1970s from the point of view of a teenage boy upset that he can no longer go hitchhiking around Europe in his gap year. When his grandmother proposes he works for her that summer driving her around places shed visited in Europe around his age. Slowly you learn there is more to his grandmother than meets the eye. I really enjoyed the way the mystery is dangled in front of the reader. I can't wait to find out all about the political intrigue that is hinted at.
