From the description, I thought this was going to be a book for me. I love historical books and I was a wife of a diplomat some years ago so that is an environment I am familiar with. However, I found the extract not as intriguing as expected. It did not read easily -- not sure if it might get better later on in the book but I remain unconvinced for now.
