I really enjoyed this book, it follows the story of Emma and her grandson Phillip on their travels across Europe in modern day 1979 as the m they retrace the footsteps of Emma that she walked 40 years earlier in 1939 when she was a diplomats wife.
I found the changing stories between the two era's very easy to follow.
I liked both the characters of Emma and Phillip and felt as though it was easy to connect to them both and their stories which kept me engaged and entertained throughout the book.
When Emma was telling her story to Phillip it felt as though she was talking to me, the reader.
I really liked the relationship between Emma and her grandson Phillip.
This book was beautifully written without being too hard going on the reader and I liked the front cover which I would be drawn to in a shop.
This is the first book from this author that I have read and I would look for their books in the future.
