The Diplomats Wife is a historical thriller about Phil and his grandmother, Emma, reliving the past. It takes place in the Cold War era and contains lots of drama. This was not a bad book at all and it was very well written, it just isn’t my thing. I did connect to, and care about, the characters but I did not care much about the plot. It took me a long time to read and overall I didn’t enjoy it. With that being said, I would recommend it to family members and friends who are interested in this kind of novel or to anyone who is a fan of Michael Ridpath’s previous work!
If you are interested in political drama, affairs and family betrayal please do look into this book as the writing is truly amazing! Maybe as I get older and my reading taste matures I will go back to this author, and this book specifically. It would be interesting to see how my opinions change!
