This book had me gripped from the start.
Philip is a young man trying to enjoy his summer of 1979 before he starts university , his plan is to go hitch hiking around Europe with his friend, until the week before when he has an accident with his father’s car, he has to pay for that with the money he had saved travel so he has to pull out of the trip.
He utterly disappointed, then steps in his grandmother (Emma) she wants to travel to Europe for different reasons but they come up with a plan so they can both do what they wanted. All goes well until Emma starts telling her fascinating story of when she was a diplomats wife in the 1930/40’s. And Emma’s quest to find the truth to her brothers death so many years ago, there is so many twists and turns that you don’t want to put the book down and just keep turning those pages. Am hoping the will be a follow on at some point to see what Philip does next!!!!
