I loved this book in so many ways, for so many reasons. It was a delightful read! It took us across Europe for an adventure. Emma needed to tell her story to someone before she died. Her grandson, Phil, was the lucky one.

I thought this was an incredibly well written book. As a result, I’m definitely keeping my eye out for more books by Michael Ridpath.

I loved the character of Emma. For a grandmother, she’s pretty cool. I love her whole story though. The espionage background, the who can you trust, who can’t you trust element. It’s just a cleverly planned, written and developed book.

I was desperate to see exactly how this one played out so I’m so glad I’ve read it. This book is a must read for anyone interested in historical fiction, family relationships, espionage and the war. It covered so many elements with so many excellent characters. I’ll be gushing about this book for days.
