I enjoyed reading this book, it is very well written and the descriptions of the Cornish coast and of Venice are very vivid. You can almost picture the Cornish landscape and smell the sea whilst you are reading, before being whisked off to the canals and colours of Venice.
However, I found it quite difficult to keep reading, as the storyline seemed to drop out and lose steam half way through the book. The characters started off well, but I lost interest in them and I found the story only got going again right at the end.
The story was exciting and dramatic at first, but tailed off in the middle before suddenly getting going again a few chapters before the end.
Having said that it is a lovely light read for anyone who enjoys historical fiction with a little romance!
