This is engaging from the very beginning. Imagining from the POV of a child in the first section, then the panic and tension of her mother in the prologue and the unfolding story of what happened. It is impossible not to wonder what happened, what led these characters to where they are. I found it impossible not to care, and this makes for a great book.
