The blurb for this novel really drew me in and I had high expectations for the preview chapters. However, I was a little underwhelmed. The story is slow to start and Cassie is, perhaps, not instantly the most likeable protagonist.
Despite this I do still have good hopes for where this story will end up. The prose is simple yet engaging; especially the way the story is split between each family members perspective. I very much believe the character development will be the author's shining light and the story's saviour.
I am certainly intrigued to read on as I feel this book does have the potential to be an emotional and heart wrenching tale.
