I spent many years placing children for adoption and have also counselled young adults who are in search of their biological parents, desperate to discover their roots. So, as I have first-hand knowledge of not only the emotional journey they face, but also the emotional effects on both the adoptive and the biological parents, this is a story which holds an immediate appeal for me.
