Interesting insight to the lives of an adopted daughter and mother

This excerpt really makes you feel like the author has some experience with adoption and/or mothering children. I loved how the adopted daughter shows the difficulties of growing up without knowing about her birth mother and, in turn, the emotional turmoil of the mother at this same maturing.
