This book was definitely unique, and I generally enjoy books that stand out, but this just wasn't for me. From the very beginning, the writing style didn't grip me; I intended to write this review three months ago but only just finished the book.

'The Forgotten Sister' is about an adopted girl called Cassie who make it her mission to find her birth mother, much to the surprise of her adoptive parents and their daughter Erin. This doesn't go at all to plan, and she ends up finding much more about her past than she bargained for.

It is difficult to say anything about this plot without giving spoilers as the blurb gives very little away but, in my opinion, there wasn't really a consistent plot to spoil anyway. The ending was bizarre and seemed to undo a lot of the progress that was made by the main characters throughout the book. As well as this, none of the things that I believe could have created a rewarding ending for this book actually occurred, so I was definitely a little disappointed.

I didn't enjoy this book, but I will admit that I was so intrigued by where the plot was going that I persisted until the very end. I will also commend the author for dealing with some very difficult topics in a sensitive and emotional way. I think, despite the fact that it wasn't for me, I can understand why some other reviewers have appreciated it more and, if you think this would be enjoyable for you, it may be worth a read.
