I was hooked from the first few pages we meet Cassie and Erin they are sisters, Cassie was adopted and Erin came shortly afterwards in a miracle pregnancy. Sadly her adoptive parents only adopted Cassie and left her sister Leah behind, but did write letters to her every year. Cassie did not know about Leah at this point.
Cassie has a good life with her parents who loved her, they had good jobs, money and she never went without.
Leah, on the other hand, had a horrible life, going from pillar to post through the care system, no loving family and went without a great deal.
This book is definitely realist, things like this do happen, where the older child of siblings are sometimes left to rot in the system as people want babies or small children, ones that won't remember and not too traumatised.

I am not going to say what happens, but it was written very well.
I have read two books from Caroline Bond and I can't wait to read more from her.
