What a thought provoking book this is. Cassie knows she is adopted and has an enviable life. She's got a younger sister, caring parents and a boyfriend - things are good.
In fact she hadn't really given her previous life any thought, until a doctor's appointment raises the question of family history/health.
Suddenly the urge to find out more becomes all encompassing, she starts to have vivid images and dreams about her early childhood and has a massive urge to find her mother.
She's told that her early childhood was problematic. Mum didn't take proper care of her, drugs and drink were involved but she can distinctly recall someone looking after her. Moments of tenderness and love were there so what happened?
When she feels like she's being fobbed off she takes to social media and finds out more than she bargained for.
She's contacted by Leah - but who is she?
This is a real "sliding doors" tale, heart wrenchingly poignant at times and full of what ifs. It's no sugar coating happy ending but yet feels positive amongst so much potential negativity. I thoroughly enjoyed this.
