This is a very beautifully written emotional book about family life and the consequences of keeping secrets from your nearest and dearest. The book was deeply involving and as the main character Cassie, opens up her life to the dangerous and reckless forgotten sister Leah, there is a palpable menacing atmosphere to the whole drama which keeps intrigue high. The novel held my attention and it was very thought provoking. It gave a good rounded look at the perspective of all the members of the family and I enjoyed reading about the details on the process of adoption. The book was the most heart breaking moral dilemma of a novel, a story of sisters, love, guilt as well as a vivid portray of the parents attempt to protect their daughter. The book is very cleverly written and keeps you guessing who the forgotten sister could be and makes you try and decide who features in Cassie’s occasional flashbacks. I was very emotionally invested in the characters and living out events with them and wanting them to have a happy ending.
