Right from the very beginning this book had me hooked, the first paragraph draws you straight into the story. I think that the novel is written in such a way that it keeps you guessing, exactly what you want from a psychological thriller. Just when you think you have an idea who the murderer is, something happens to change your mind.
The characters are all so different from each other both in personality and background and the decade that has passed since the incident is sufficient time to make the fact that they are all now so changed entirely believable. The addition of the French Detective adds a new slant to the story and although by the end you have an idea of who is responsible, what happens afterwards is not expected.
I would definitely recommend the book.
