A little bit of a historical romance which is from the get go very informative and sets the scene in the time frame very well, both with historical factual details like the Depression mentioned, as well as more social history e.g. the trend for Brylcreem and the style of clothing of the day mentioned. The author writes fluently and her writing flows well and is very easy to read and makes the information given more accessible. The relationship between Jack and his mother seems to be a very loving one; she clearly idolises her son and he appears the doting son also. The overall story sounds as though it will be strong and as the characters we meet seem likeable I have no doubt I'll be rooting for them as the plot develops.
