The story is considerably different from any similar stories. It caught my interest from the first page and took me to a very interesting trip through many turning points and surprising twists.
Two stories are told almost in parallel, chapter by chapter about the current events and the tragedy that took place 20 years ago in Widows Hill.
This is definitely a good book to pick for a weekend adventure, without leaving your house!

Now, as much as the plot is really interesting, I have found the development of the characters somehow lacking. And, as a result the story sort of fell a little bit flat. I am not sure whether this is just purely a result of the reader getting to know everything from a single point of view, however, even from this perspective, her feelings, her thoughts as she gets to understand everything are somehow not well developed. There are also many hits and misses during the book, about her relationships with everyone in the book, and it almost feels like a bit of a first schematic fast draft. Every character is there for a reason, like a means to an end, we get a bit of background, never enough to care and love the characters and then at some point later we understand their importance in the story.. and that is it. I would have liked to have a smoother analysis of the events and the connections.
