Olivia Meyer has been suffering from sleepwalking and night terrors, she has found herself outside in the middle of the night. One night she wakes up in her garden and there is a body at her feet...and so begins a police investigation that threatens to unearth Olivia's past, a past that she has fought hard to bury and escape from...
Twenty years prior in a town called Widow Hills, a six year old girl named Ardon Maynor was sleepwalking in the middle of the night and was swept away by storm water. Missing for days, after a mammoth search operation, she was eventually found clinging to a storm drain. Her disappearance, miraculous survival and subsequent rescue captured not only her local town, but the nation - everyone knew who she was, and wanted to know all about her life as she grew. The media would revisit the story on its anniversary, there was no escaping the fact that she was 'The Girl from Widow Hills'. Until, that is, she is old enough to change her name (to Olivia Meyer) and try to separate herself from her past.
This book is another well written page turner by Megan Miranda. It follows Olivia's life, in the present, with short flashback sections between the chapters, made up of extracts from newspaper reports, tv interviews, 911 calls etc. in relation to Ardon's disappearance. A recommended read.
