This is a genre I never usually read, and normally wouldn't have if it was not for the first chapter. This book tells the story of Olivia, formally known as Arden, as she desperately tries to leave her traumatizing past behind her and live her new life. However, the past catches up with her with terrifying consequences.
I found I instantly liked Olivia and felt compelled to protect her. I found myself doubting and distrusting every other character that she was close to in her new life, wondering what their true motives were with her. Even the ones governed to protect her. The twists and turns were un-nerving, and I never could have predicted the ending even if I tried.
The writing style was easy and well paced. Descriptions were just right, without leaving me needed more detail to visualise what was being written. However, the build up to the main events was slow and at the end of the book I still felt that something was missing and I was needed more to be completely satisfied with the conclusion. Overall it was a great read.
