The cover of this novel suits the period and subject very well, definitely a book that I'd pick up from the bookshelf.
I very much enjoyed the first chapter, which takes place in 1945 as the Polish are moving back into Warsaw. However, the second chapter threw me a little as it goes back in time but moves into present tense which was a little disconcerting and didn't flow as well.
I would read on to see what happens.
