The characters were interesting - in some ways your typical high school students, in others not. There was more to them than there are in some novels. The dynamic between Skye and her best friend and their interactions with the other students shows an insight into high school drama but with an interesting twist. There's a level of intrigue with what it is that Skye has signed up to do and the inevitability that at some point things will not work out as planned.
