I picked up this book from the library because of the cover, and because I struggle to resist a YA novel about a disappearing girl. Despite having somewhat mixed feelings about Eileen Cook's 'With Malice,' I remember it having sufficient plot twists and a gripping enough storyline to get me through a reading slump, so I figured it would definitely be worth giving this one a try.

This book is hard to explain without spoilers, so a somewhat vague description is that Skye Thorn is a fraudulent psychic who offers readings to friends and classmates in a desperate attempt to make money. When the school's 'it girl' Paige disappears, and Skye has insight into what happened, she goes to the police with knowledge that she claims is from a vision and rises to somewhat unwanted fame throughout the school. As more and more information comes out about the disappearance, Skye finds herself tangled up in lies, and with her reputation and wellbeing in grave danger.

Although some of the plot twists were predictable for me, and parts of the book were a little too cliched, I was definitely kept hooked throughout the story. Equally, I have to acknowledge that I did not foresee the biggest plot twist of all of them, and that was enough to redeem this book to the four-star rating that I am giving it. Skye herself was an interesting character to read, and a definite anti-hero in my view, so that too gave this book a unique and unfamiliar perspective that I admire a lot.

Overall, this book was an entertaining read and, although some parts of it seemed a little underdeveloped, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quick YA mystery. It is definitely worth a read to see if you can figure out the plot twists and surprises that Cook scatters throughout the novel.
