Skye is a student at high-school who gives fake tarot card readings to her classmates for money, as she hopes to go to New York with her best friend Drew. Paige, the local mayor's daughter, goes missing and Skye decides to help out the police with some inside knowledge. However, the tables turn on Skye as she becomes labelled as a prime suspect in Paige's case.
Skye's character is very interesting, and she seems selfish and manipulative. She also has an odd relationship with her mother, which helps us to understand Skye's character a little more. The things that people do for money when in desperate poverty is well highlighted in this book.
