I'm not one for the occult, nor do I believe in ghosts, but I can suspend my disbelief for long enough to read a book or watch a movie with these themes. so I started this book with my open-eyed expression and left it with my eyes opened further still. I've never read anything by Eileen Cook before but I will search her out in future. She has a style that just feels right for this genre - not too other-worldly but convincing enough to keep me hooked.

Tarot is a hard topic to include in a novel. It turns some off straight away and I suppose that what Cook is left with is the people who are happy to embrace it. I don't think the book would convert those that don't believe, but is string enough to carry the ret of us over the line.
