I received this book from the publisher via Readers First in exchange for an honest review. This in no way effects my opinion on the book.

The Hanging Girl is a not so typical crime thriller by Eileen Cook and just so happened to be one of my most anticipated releases of this year. Unfortunately, I have been let down dramatically.
The story follows Skye (otherwise known as Candi), an 18 year old fake psychic whom gets involved in a missing persons case that she may or may not have something to do with. It’s quite heavy on her being a tarot card reader and this is what got me te most interested in this title. I’ll be honest. Now, the plot is great. It was really engaging and interesting, but.... the characters are all just TERRIBLE. Not a single one is even remotely relatable or nice - just moody, or overly kind teen angst filled nothings. At first I was too intrigued by the plot to care that the characters has as much depth as a puddle but after 11-12 chapters I just had to stop. Total bail. Zero recommendation from me.
