We have Felicity and her safe and loving family in the present and Jasmine, a long disappeared best friend in the past. The dual narrative works best to present the events for the 2 timelines of the past and present, respectively.

The plot is gradually built and, despite the theme being quite common in thrillers, it manages to engage the reader from the first pages.

I need to speak about the 3rd chapter though. What is going on with Tim? Jasmine’s definitely having bad feelings around and about him, but the insistence feels forced and bothering at one point. Still, feels like a good read.
