I enjoyed the opening of this thriller. The use of then and now and alternating narrators helped build tension and add in plot detail.
We have two female narrators and both are on edge but for different reasons. The writer catches a teenage girl's voice very well. I found the relationship between the central character and her husband Chris a little puzzling. However this will surely be explained as the novel progresses.
Again Jasmine's homelife was brought to life. Perhaps we needed more of that for our central character.
