Katerina Diamond is an expert at building the tension right from the start as most readers will know from her previous books. In The Heatwave Felicity is a married woman with two children living in the Lake District but it's her past that haunts her and makes her unable to fully relax and enjoy the life she has. Felicity grew up in Devon at a time when a young girl went missing and was never found. Felicity believes she knows who abducted the girl but, for reasons initially unexplained, she didn't divulge the person's name to anyone. The events of all these years ago continue to have an impact on Felicity's life and relationships. Now, however, the memories are all brought back to her as another young girl has gone missing in her home town. Felicity feels compelled to return to Devon believing that there is a chance that she can save the girl and perhaps make amends for the feeling that she should have done more to help the first girl who was abducted. The Heatwave promises to be another terrific read from a very talented author. I'm hugely looking forward to reading the rest of this book.
